We are dramaqueens, just kidding!

Blogissamme on jo syksyllä esitelty Popstars-kurssi, joten nyt meidän mielestämme on aika esitellä myös Teatterikurssi. Teatterikurssin voi valita valinnaiseksi 8.- ja 9.-luokilla. Kurssi on ollut suosittu kaiken ikäisten keskuudessa.

8. luokan kurssilla pääpaino on leikkimisessä ja näyttelemisessä ryhmän kesken. Kurssia on kaksi tuntia viikossa ja tunnit pidetään yhteen. Tänä vuonna kasiluokan kurssia vetää äidinkielen lehtori Hermanni Honkimäki. 9. luokan kurssilla keskitytään mahdollisimman avoimeen itseilmaisuun ja näyttelemiseen. Ysiluokkalaiset kurssilaiset pääsevät esiintymään erilaisissa koulun tapahtumissa, kuten vanhempainilloissa ja joulu- sekä kevätjuhlissa. Ysiluokkalaisia ohjastaa Ritva-Leena 'Ritvis' Heikkinen, äidinkielen ja venäjän lehtori.

Näytelmissä ja harjoituksissa voidaan käyttää apuna koulun pukuvarastoa. Pukuvarastoon kuuluu sellaisiakin helmiä kuin merenneidon pyrstö, poropuku, hiihtotrikoot, sekä monia vaatekappaleita 70- ja 80-luvuilta.

 It's time to introduce The Drama Course, course which is as popular as The Popstars Course. You can choose it in the eight and ninth grade.

 In the eight graders course the main focus is on playing and acting among the group. There are two lessons per week. This years course is hosted by Hermanni Honkiniemi, a Finnish teacher. Ninth-graders course focuses on self-expression and acting. Ninth-graders are able to perform in school events, like christmas and spring celebrations and parents' evenings. This years course for ninth-graders is hosted by Rirva-Leena 'Ritvis'    Heikkinen, Finnish and Russian teacher.

School's costume wardrobe can be used in plays and while rehearsing. Wardrobe includes mermaids tail, a reindeer costume, Skiing outfit, as well as many items from 70's and 80's.

A Zest meeting with Pamela

Tänä kauniina tiistaipäivänä koulullamme kävi vierailemassa näyttelijä-käsikirjoittaja-ohjaaja-monitaituri Pamela Tola. Hän tuli kertomaan yhdeksän vuotta jatkuneesta Zest -toiminnasta, jossa hänkin on ollut mukana muutaman vuoden. Zest on ohjelma, jonka tavoitteena on nuorten itsetunnon kohottaminen ja vahvuuksien löytäminen, sekä niiden kehittäminen. Zestin ilosanomaa levittävät Pamela Tolan lisäksi Veikka Gustafsson, Samppa Lajunen, Tommy Lindgren, Tiia Piili, Lenni-Kalle Taipale, Jani Toivola ja Eva Wahlström.

Tunnin aikana Pamela puhui meille lapsuuden haaveistaan, yläasteen opiskeluhaluttomuudestaan ja kertoi miten päätyi näyttelijäksi. Jo pikkutytöstä asti Pamela oli innokas näyttelijä; hän mm. kuvasi omaa talk show'ta, näytteli sisarustensa kanssa sekä kuvitteli koulumatkoillaan olevansa elokuvassa. Hän ei kuitenkaan koskaan kertonut haaveistaan ääneen, ei edes kun pyrki teatterikorkeakouluun. Hän ei päässyt ensiyrittämällä sisään teatterikorkeaan ja vietti vuoden kasvattaen itseään näyttelijänä opiskelemalla tanssiterapiaa, avustaen Joensuun kaupunginteatterissa, näytellen ylioppilasteatterissa, vetäen sekä omaa teatteriryhmää että lasten teatteriryhmää. Uurastus palkittiin ja Pamela pääsi sisään teatterikorkeaan. Siitä lähtien hänen uransa on ollut nousujohteinen.

On this beautiful tuesday actress-scriptwriter-director-multitalent Pamela Tola visited our school. She came to tell us about Zest-project which has been going on for nine years. She has been a part of it for few years. Zest is a programme, which goal is to make teens love themselves more and finding things where they are good. Besides Pamela there are also other celebrities in Zest team: Veikka Gustafsson, Samppa Lajunen, Tommy Lindgren, Tiia Piili, Lenni-Kalle Taipale, Jani Toivola ja Eva Wahlström.

During her session Pamela told us about her childhood dreams, problems at school and how she ended up an actress. Even when she was a little girl, Pamela was very keen on acting: she, among other things, filmed her own talk show, acted with her siblings and while walking to school pretend to be a moviestar. She never spoke aloud about her dreams, not even when she applied for Theatre Academy Helsinki. She didn't get in at the first try, so she spent the year by growing her-self as an actress: She studied dance therapy, assisted at the Joensuu City theatre, acted at the ylioppilasteatteri, hosted her own theatregroup and a theatregroup for kids. Her hard work was rewarded when she got in to Theatre Academy. Since then her career has been very succesful.

The future is ours

Yhteishaku on ajankohtainen jokaiselle koulumme yhdeksäsluokkalaiselle. Se tapahtuu internetin välityksellä yleensä koulussa opon, eli oppilaanohjaajan, avustuksella. Yhteishaku järjestetään kaksi kertaa vuodessa, syksyllä ja keväällä, sekä täydennyshaku kesällä.

 Kysyimme blogikurssimme nuorilta heidän mietteitään yhteishausta. Kyselyssä kävi ilmi, että Lapuan lukio oli hyvin suosittu. Myös Seinäjoen lukio, Jurvan ammattikoulun eri linjat, sekä Helsingin medialukio nousivat esille haastatteluissa. Medialukio kiinnostaa, koska se tarjoaa samalla mahdollisuuden pääkaupunkiseudulla asumiseen, sekä median parissa työskentelyyn. Monien valinnan ratkaisee kotoa muuttaminen. Toiset lähtevät rohkeammin opiskelujen perässä, toiset taas tahtovat pysyä kotiseudulla.

Julla selventää päätöstään:
"Mä meen lukioon siks, että mulla ei oo mitään hajua, mikä musta tulee isona"

Iitu kertoo hakemisen syistä:
"No minä itse, ja tulevaisuus. Ja se että haluan julkkikseksi"

Applying to school is current to every ninth-grader of our school. It happens via internet usually at scool with help of student's counselor. School applying is arranged two times a year, in fall and spring, and once again in summer, for those who missed the first applying.

We asked the teenagers of blog-course their thoughts about the applying. The gallup told us that the Lapua upper-secondary school was a very popular option. Also Seinäjoki's upper-secondary school, different lines of Jurva's vocational school and Helsinki's media upper-secondary school were mentioned often during the interview. Media school in Helsinki is interesting because it gives the opportunity to live in our capital city and work with media. Moving out away from your family affects the choises that young people do. Others want to stay home longer than some of us.

Julla tells why she choses upper secondary school:
"I'm going to upper secondary school, because I have no idea, what I want to be when I grow up"

Iitu tells what affects of her applying:
"Well myself, and my future, and that I want to become a celebrity"

Winter Wonderland Ball

Kaupungissamme on tapana kutsua kaikki koulumme yhdeksäsluokkalaiset juhlimaan Suomen itsenäisyyttä kaupungintalolle. Tänä vuonna mukanamme juhli kaupunginjohtajan, Paavo Latva-Raskun, hänen vaimonsa, Eeva-Marian, veteraanien ja kaupunginvaltuutettujen lisäksi, myös ystävyyskaupunkimme Rakveren kaupungin johtaja, Anders Jaadla vaimoineen.

 Tilaisuudessa mm. pidettiin puheita ja tanssittiin. Sotaveteraani Jaakko Palmu muistutti, kuinka tärkeitä päätöksiä meillä yhdeksäsluokkalaisilla on edessä.

"Ratkaisun tekeminen vaatii teiltä tarmoa ja sisua. Keskustelkaa asiasta vanhempienne ja isovanhempienne kanssa. Lopullinen päätös on kuitenkin teillä." Palmu toivoi myös, ettei meistä kenestäkään tulisi ikinä sotaveteraania.

Myös oppilaskunnan puheenjohtaja Silja Annala piti puheen, jossa hän muistutti kaikkia arvostamaan Suomen itsenäisyyttä.

"Kiitokset veteraaneille siitä, että tiistaina me saamme viettää itsenäisyytemme 94-vuotisjuhlaa. Itsenäisyys on arvokas, mutta myös iloinen asia. Uskaltakaa hymyillä tänään ja tiistaina. Itsenäisyys ja vapaus ovat asioita, joista saa olla iloinen."

Before 1917, Finland was an autonomic Grand Duchy under the power of Russia. However, when we became independent in December 6th of the mentioned year, the day has become an annual holiday in Finland and is celebrated throughout the country.

In our city, it's a tradition to invite all ninth-graders of our school to a celebration to the city hall to celebrate the independence of Finland. This year we were celebrating not only with the city mayor Paavo Latva-Rasku, his wife, Eeva-Maria, veterans ja the members of the city council, but also with the mayor of our sister city Rakvere, Anders Jaadla and his wife.

The ceremony included e.g. speeches and dancing. Veteran Jaakko Palmu reminded us how important decisions we ninth-graders will have ahead of us.

"Making the decisions requires energy and guts from you. Discuss these things with your parents and grandparents. However, in the end, it's up to you what you decide." Palmu also wished, that none of us would never again become a veteran of war.

The head of the student body, Silja Annala, also held a speech, in which she reminded all of us to appreciate Finland's independence.

"I want to thank the veterans for making it possible for us to celebrate the 94th anniversary of our independence. It is a valueable, but also a happy thing. Be sure to smile today and the following Tuesday. Independence and freedom are things to be happy about."

Some mopeds go, some mopeds don't!

Lapuan Yläkoululla oli torstaina 29.9 moporatsia. Samalla viikolla kahdeksasluokkalaisilla oli "Turvallisesti mopolla" -koulutus. Moporatsioita järjestetään koululla satunnaisesti, ei välttämättä joka vuosi. Sen sijaan Turvallisesti mopolla- koulutus järjestetään vuosittain. Moporatsioita on tehty tänä vuonna yleisesti koko Pohjanmaan alueella.
Moporatsiassa poliisi tuli koululle tarkistamaan oppilaiden käytössä olevat mopot ja skootterit. Poliisit tarkistivat mopon rakenteen viritysten varalta. Rakenteen vaikuttaessa epänormaalilta, poliisit itse testasivat mopon nopeuden. Jos moposta löytyi virityksiä, tiedossa oli sakkorangaistus, kevytmoottoripyörän verot sekä mahdollisesti ajokortin ja rekisterikilven menettäminen. Lisäksi tulevan autokoulututkinnon suorittaminen saattaa viivästyä vuodella. Jokaisen mopon omistajan tuli lisäksi esittää mopon rekisteriote ja ajokortti.
Turvallisesti mopolla- koulutuksessa kahdeksasluokkalaiset saivat tarvittavaa ja tärkeää informaatiota mopoilun säännöistä, huolimattomuuden ja mopon väärinkäytön riskeistä sekä alkoholin vaikutuksesta ajamisessa. Koulutuksen piti Lapuan koulupoliisi Juha Joutsiniemi.

At September 29^th, Thursday, Lapua Secondary School had a moped raid. In the same week, there was a "Safely By Moped" education course. Moped raids are organized at the school casually, not necessarily every year. "Safely By Moped" education course, however, is organized every year. Moped raids are organized generally in the whole area of Ostrobothnia this year.
At the moped raid, police came to the school to check student's mopeds and scooters. Police checked the moped's structure in case of tuning. If the structure seemed abnormal, the police tested the moped's speed by themselves. If the moped was tuned up, the owner got a fine, had to pay light motorcycle tax and possibly lose his or her driver’s license and license plate. To cap it all, the person may have to wait for another year before she of he can regain the his or her driver’s license. All moped and scooter owners also had to show his or her driver’s license and the vehicle’s registration.
At the "Safely By Moped" education eightgraders got important information about riding with a moped, risks of negligence, moped abuse and effect of alcohol in the traffic. The education was provided by Lapua school police Juha Joutsiniemi.

Let's all be friends!

 Seitsemäsluokkalaiset ryhmäytyvät joka syksy luokkineen Lapuan nuorisotalolla. Ryhmäytymisessä tutustaan omiin luokkalaisiin tehtävien ja leikkien muodossa. Pääsimme seuraamaan 7H-luokan ryhmäytymistä, koska blogikurssillamme on luokan toinen tukioppilas, ja haastattelimme myös yhtä nuorisotalon työntekijää.

7H-luokan oppilaat saapuivat aamulla nuorisotalolle hermostuneina ja jännittyneinä. Onneksi nuoriso-ohjaajat, luokanvalvoja ja kuraattori olivat mukana ohjaamassa leikkejä, jotka rentouttivat tunnelmaa.

Leikit sisälsivät nimien opettelua, liikkumista ja päätymistä eri henkilöiden seuraan. Myös tukioppilaat saivat vetää leikin ja olla muutenkin mukana tekemisessä. Ohjelma sisälsi mm. seuraavat tehtävät: Läpsy-leikki, Naapuri-leikki, jonka veti ranskalainen vaihto-oppilas englanniksi, ja myös erilaiset tehtävärastit, joissa kilpailtiin muita eri aikaan ryhmäytyneitä seitsemäsluokkia vastaan, näihin lukeutui mm. tornin kokoaminen papereista, pinssien suunnittelu, yleissivistävä tietokilpailu ja paljon muuta mukavaa.

Lopuksi oppilaat saivat tutustua Nuorisotalon tiloihin, pinssit tehtiin loppuun ja sitten saikin jo lähteä ruokailemaan koululle.

The seventh graders are joined together in Lapuas Nuorisotalo, it’s a place where young people can spend their free time, every fall. They spend there some hours by playing and having fun to get to know each other. We were able to follow the class 7H grouping, because one of the prefects of the class is on our blog course. We also interviewed one of the workers in Lapuas nuorisotalo.

The students in 7H arrived in the Nuorisotalo at morning nervous and excited. Luckily the youth center leaders, class teacher and the school curator were there and activated the group in to games and playing.

The games included learning the names, moving and hanging out with the class. Also the prefects hosted a game and were there for the students. The programme included different taskes, for the example neighbour-game, which was hosted by French exchange student. The students also visited different checkpoints where they did every kind of tasks.

In the end the students were able to go around the house, make class pins and after that was time for the lunch.
